Peer reviewing has been a fairly new concept for me this year. We had always done this in previous writing classes but I have never realized how much work was truly needed for a good peer review. Back in high school I would just scan through everything and then make a few meaningless comments. The first paper that we did that was almost exactly what I did, and then I read our product descriptor and realized there was so much more. Helping the writer identify claims or arguments and giving them hints to help make their paper credible is super useful no matter how good of a writer you are. While editing Abby’s paper here I really focused on giving good feedback focusing on quote integration, proper MLA format and identifying arguments and claims. Also, to better organize so she could read through my comments I would leave a letter label(something like (M) if It was identifying a claim) so that she would clearly be able to see what I was addressing. Areas for growth for me would be focusing more on content of the paper, a lot of the time reading over papers I am only focused on surface revision.
