Independent Peer Revision

This was the guidelines that Al and I used to peer edit each others papers. We used this because we both felt that It helped organize what we should be doing for peer editing instead of just free lancing over each others papers. The only place I wish I had more feedback was I did like having the two reviewers because both had insightful comments and usually they would focus on 2 completely different sections of my paper.

In class we took a more general focus on peer review and looked at some surface level things like word choice an MLA. I had the same partner, Al, and it did help us. Since critiquing others is much easier both of us were able to take a good look into each others papers. Even with something as simple as MLA having another set of eyes to make sure that it is correct is very helpful.

Big Data Source Collection

For this source, I looked over the entire thing and highlighted anything I thought would be useful for my argument. I did not do any text to self connections as this paper we are moving away from connections to self.

I did the same things as before but really focused on finding quotes to back up my argument.

This source was different then a lot of others because it was more of a list with a small piece of text describing the incident. I used a mix of chunking to group all of the common things together and then I used active reading to better understand and relate everything back to my main argument.

Data Collection

Using our devices every day we never really take the time to fully understand what they’re doing. We assume that when we see and ad about something we just talked it’s just a coincidence.

Looking more into it, it is listening to everything that we’re doing, and taking that and finding advertisements we might like. It is also remembering everything that we are doing.

Progress

The learning outcome I was able to better understand was #2: Be able to integrate their ideas with those of others using summary, paraphrase, quotation, analysis, and synthesis of relevant sources.

Using all 3 sources, Greenfield, Twenge, and boyd, I had a lot of practice intergrating their quotes into my paper. Also, a few times I didn’t want to use the entire quote so I just paraphrased the information.

Alone, Does He Even Remember Me?

I sit all day long, alone in this small room. I think he even put a picture frame on top of me. Every day after school we would sit and play games together all night long. And before we went to bed we would put our favorite movie on and fall asleep.

Now in college apparently there is “no time” or anything, all I hear all day and night long is ‘Friends’ paying on repeat. There’s never anything fun to do, it’s just work, work and more work. Hopefully this summer things will go back to the way they used to be.

When this summer comes we can stay up all night long and play our favorite games, and when we go to bed we can try watching a new show we haven’t seen yet. Besides all that, while you are at work I will actually be turned off, resting, instead of trying to fill the empty void to make this place seem more like home.
